About Yaz.Az

Yaz.Az (yazaz.az · azerbaijanikeyboard.com) is a free online tool for anyone who needs to write in Azerbaijani but does not have access to an Azerbaijani keyboard layout. It works entirely in your browser — no server, no account, no data collection. Whether you are messaging on a phone, writing on a shared computer, or typing a document on a standard Latin keyboard, Yaz.Az lets you produce correct Azerbaijani text instantly.

Azerbaijani and the Keyboard Problem

Azerbaijani (Azərbaycan dili) is spoken by approximately 35–50 million people, primarily in Azerbaijan and north-western Iran, with significant diaspora communities across Russia, Georgia, Turkey, and Europe. It is the official language of the Republic of Azerbaijan and one of the most widely spoken Turkic languages in the world.

The modern Azerbaijani Latin alphabet includes seven characters that do not appear on any standard international keyboard: ə, ö, ü, ı, ğ, ç, ş and their uppercase equivalents. These are not stylistic accents — they mark distinct sounds that change the meaning of words entirely. Writing Azerbaijani without them is like writing English without vowels: technically readable in context but orthographically wrong.

Despite this, millions of Azerbaijani speakers type daily on phones, laptops, and shared computers that cannot produce these characters without navigating through special character menus or installing a keyboard layout. In practice, most people simply omit the characters — producing text that is technically readable but incorrect. Yaz.Az was built to remove that trade-off entirely.

The tool uses short, memorable two-character sequences that feel natural on any keyboard: sh → ş, ch → ç, gh → ğ, ae → ə. Type the way you would phonetically spell the sound in English, click Convert, and your text is instantly corrected. No installation, no account, no settings — it works on the first visit and on every device.

Who Uses Yaz.Az

Yaz.Az is used by a wide range of people who need to write in correct Azerbaijani without switching their keyboard layout:

  • Students and academics writing papers, essays, or messages in Azerbaijani on international university computers or devices configured for other languages.
  • Professionals in the diaspora corresponding with colleagues, family, or institutions in Azerbaijan from keyboards in Russia, Europe, or North America.
  • Content creators and journalists writing in Azerbaijani for websites, social media, or publications, especially when working quickly on unfamiliar devices.
  • Developers and translators who need to produce correctly spelled Azerbaijani strings, labels, or copy without switching input methods mid-workflow.
  • Anyone on a shared or borrowed device — a phone belonging to a friend, a hotel computer, a library terminal — where installing a keyboard layout is not an option.

The tool is deliberately simple and fast. There is no account to create, no text stored anywhere, and no limit on how much you can convert. It is designed to get out of the way and let you write.
